The 14th National Winter Games concluded successfully at the end of February 2024. As the largest, with the most events and the highest standards in previous Winter Games, the 14th National Winter Games witnessed the solid results of China's strategy of "expanding from the south to the west and advancing from the east" in ice and snow sports. In this year's Winter Games, the "Wind Chasing Team" of Leice provided precise meteorological observation and data support services with the star product Wind3D 6000 3D scanning wind lidar.
Wind field information is crucial for the smooth progress of events such as ski jumping, alpine skiing, and freestyle skiing in the Winter Games, and is a key parameter monitored by the meteorological department. How to accurately observe and forecast wind is one of the most important concerns for every meteorological support personnel. The Wind3D 6000 3D scanning wind lidar has played an important role in the comprehensive monitoring system, meteorological forecast system, and meteorological service system built by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Meteorological Bureau due to its excellent performance.
During the competition, the "Wind Chasing Team" of Leice cooperated with colleagues from the meteorological department to complete the competition support task at the highest level. In order to better observe the wind on the track with precision, the "Wind Chasing Team" customized and developed a track wind measurement mode based on the characteristics of the track. Through a unique scanning strategy, it achieved fast and accurate measurement of wind speed and direction at different positions on the track, providing first-hand high-precision wind field data products for meteorological support departments and providing strong support for the smooth progress of the competition.
